As a kid, I always wanted to go to sleep-away camp. And as an adult, I’m still looking for the opportunity. This week, I’m going to do just that. It might not be a full week, and it might not be summer vacation, but it will be three days of fun and creative-filled workshops on a lake in New Hampshire with cabins scattered all about and one big dining hall to eat our meals. Sounds like camp to me!
I’m bursting with excitement (along with some nervousness–I won’t know a soul) and really cannot wait. I’ve been looking forward to this trip all summer. From the smorgasbord of options, I enrolled in a day-long photography workshop, a day-long collage/mixed media workshop, and then a half-day lyrics-writing workshop. YAY! There will also be evening activities (I don’t know what yet but I hope a bonfire is included at some point) and then a fair on the last evening where lots of folks participating in and teaching at the camp, as well as from outside, will show and sell their wares. Doesn’t it sound super-fabulous?
I am oozing with anticipation to take loads of photos of the lake, the woods, the cabins, the people, and any and everything else that inspires me. I’m hoping for a creative-spark inducing experience, and also some rest from the stress of “publish or perish.” Maybe I’ll even look and feel this relaxed:
See you when I get back and I’ll “show and tell” you all about it.
